Maryberry ( メアリーベリー ) is a character in Lapis Re:Lights. She is a member of the unit Sugar Pockets.
Character Description[]
A genius inventor who is asked to give speeches at the academic science conferences. She is from the country of Waleland. She is excellent at making magical items, but she has many difficulties speaking to people and is somewhat of a shut in. She uses an item called the Berry Board to speak to people and uses emojis to convey her emotions. However, without the Berry Board, she easily becomes nervous and cannot speak well. She is a member of the MIT (Magic Items Research Club). Though she has invented countless revolutionary magic items and magic potions, she has also failed many times. As a result, she often drags the special class members into her troubles.
She is a member of the unit Sugar Pockets. She believes that being a member will help cure her shyness. During practice lessons, she works toward being able to give Sugar Pockets her all.
Personality[]
Maryberry is very very shy, so shy that she barely speaks, instead doing so through the 'Berry Board'—that she herself invented—which is able to relay the owner's feelings and thoughts vocally.
Despite her introverted nature, she gradually begins to open up and show more emotion, such as in episode 11 when she shows genuine excitement about performing at the Ceaster Festival, and going as far to say, I'm not the old Mary anymore... maybe.
Appearance[]
Maryberry stands at 139 cm. She has short, light turquoise hair and purple eyes and wears her uniform with white socks and black mary jane shoes.
Relationships[]
- Champe. Great friends and roommates. The two are close enough to share a bed every night.
- Ratura. Ratura tends to treat Mary delicately.
Trivia[]
- In Episode 5, one of her Berry Boards fell into the river and malfunctioned, which made Mary feel dejected.
